Our History
Franklin Street Baptist Church enjoys a rich heritage of gospel ministry in Louisville’s historic Butchertown neighborhood. Our congregation began in 1868 as a daughter church of Walnut Street Baptist Church, before moving to the corner of Franklin St. and N. Wenzel St. in 1888, where we have regularly gathered until 2025.
In September 2025, we relocated and currently gather at the building facilities of Louisville Korean Seventh Day Adventist Church (117 Crescent Ave.), as we prayerfully seek God’s will for the future of our congregation.
Our church enjoys an ongoing affiliation with the Southern Baptist Convention, the Kentucky Baptist Convention, and the Louisville Regional Baptist Association.
