Jonathan Ginn

Jonathan Ginn

Born and raised in Sacramento, California, Jonathan was blessed to grow up in a wonderful Christian household with godly, Jesus-loving parents who taught him the gospel from an early age. He experienced God’s saving grace, trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ, and was baptized when he was 14. In high school, after having numerous opportunities to teach and preach in his local church, Jonathan began to pray and seek the wise counsel of his church leaders to discern whether he had aspirations to the office of elder.

After graduating in 2015 from the University of California, Irvine with a BA in Classics, Jonathan returned to Sacramento and worked several years as an accountant for the California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS), before being sent off by his local church in 2018 to receive formal theological training in Louisville at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he would go on to receive a MDiv in 2021, followed by a Research ThM in 2022.

Throughout his time in seminary, Jonathan served as a deacon, led a discipleship group, and taught Sunday school at Cedar Creek Baptist Church, while occasionally providing pulpit supply preaching at various local churches in the greater Louisville and southern Indiana regions.

He accepted the call to the pastorate at Franklin Street Baptist Church in July 2023, began pastoring shortly thereafter in August 2023, and was formally ordained and installed as Franklin Street’s preaching elder in January 2024. In addition to his bi-vocational ministry role at Franklin Street, Jonathan also serves as a Teaching Assistant (Garrett Fellow) at Southern Seminary and Boyce College, and substitute teaches for the Jefferson County Public School District.
