Jonathan Ginn

Born and raised in Sacramento, California, Jonathan was blessed to grow up in a wonderful Christian household with godly, Jesus-loving parents who taught him the gospel from an early age. He experienced God’s saving grace and trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ at 6. In high school, after having numerous opportunities to preach in his local church, Jonathan began to pray and seek the wise counsel of leaders in his local church to discern whether God was directing him towards the path of pastoral ministry.

After graduating in 2015 from the University of California, Irvine with a BA in Classics, Jonathan returned to Sacramento and worked several years as an accountant for the California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS), before then moving across the country to Louisville in 2018 to pursue theological training at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he would go on to receive a MDiv in 2021, followed by a Research ThM in 2022.

Throughout his time in seminary, Jonathan served as a deacon, discipleship group leader, and Sunday school teacher at Cedar Creek Baptist Church, while occasionally providing pulpit supply preaching at various local churches in the greater Louisville and southern Indiana regions. He accepted the call to the pastorate at Franklin Street Baptist Church in July 2023, began pastoring shortly thereafter in August 2023, and was formally ordained and installed as Franklin Street’s preaching elder in January 2024. Besides his pastoral role at Franklin Street, Jonathan also serves as a Teaching Assistant (Garrett Fellow) at Southern Seminary and Boyce College, and additionally substitute teaches for the Jefferson County Public School District.
